Live & Learn -- Listen to your husband

Stewart has told me about eighteen times to quit leaving our huge Costco bottle of liquid laundry detergent on top of the washer, because it will eventually fall off and make a mess. So I don't know why I was surprised when I went in Monday night to switch over the laundry and found it on the floor. It had exploded, and the detergent had spread out over the entire floor, all the way under the washer and dryer to the wall behind.

It took us over an hour and about a dozen towels to clean up the mess. Stewart was understandably frustrated with me as he held up the heavy appliances so I could crawl underneath them to mop up the sticky disaster. And I'm still going to have to mop the floor a couple more times to get it all up, I think. But at least it will probably smell April fresh in there from now on.

As I cried tears of frustration, I thought to myself that I really ought to listen to Stew from now on. Because sometimes it is in your best interest to listen to your husband.

  2. ha! it's the opposite at our house. i tell him time and time again to put X away or Y will happen and he never listens. then Y happens and he gets all pissed off and then when he looks at me, he gets even more mad because although i never say anything, my disapproving look says it all haha!

  3. It's the opposite in our house too. It really frustrates me telling him to do things over and over - his mother has a theory that men love to be nagged, because if they didn't they'd do things the first time! I love how you're taking the positives from this episode though and embracing your freshly scented floor!

  4. HAHA that sucks. It's not really funny but kind of is because who doesn't love the smell of fresh laundry detergent?

  5. These kinds of events always happen when they are the least convenient, like late at night or when you are rushing out the door, adding to the frustration and anger. But I bet you won't make this mistake again! I'm sorry this happened, it totally sucks!

  13. I will not be allowing JD to see this post because I do not want to listen to him and even if he is right I hate to tell him so ;) I do the same thing with the costco detergent and he yells at me. So far so good but now I am nervous!

  14. This literally made me laugh out loud - totally something that would happen between me and my husband! But yes, the silver lining in this is that your laundry room will smell divine.

  15. Oh no!!! I'd be so passed at myself, and embarrassed for not listening! But, one of my all time favorite smells is clean laundry, so that would be a plus! I hope it's all cleaned no, and that you guys had a nice weekend!
