Dear Baby Boy... 24 Weeks

Dear Baby Boy,

Well, it's been an exciting week, what with the Seahawks beating the Saints on Sunday and advancing into the final round of the playoffs. It was an exhausting but exhilarating day for Mommy... standing for that long in the cold weather is kind of a drag, but it was totally worth it to see the Hawks win once again. I hope all the jumping and yelling didn't jar you around too much. Someone asked me this week what I would do if you aren't a Seahawks fan when you grow up. I said it's fine if you're into something else (ice dancing, curling, ultimate Frisbee... whatever floats your boat) but that supporting another NFL team will NOT be acceptable! Just so you know...

This week you are the size of a cantaloupe! You are getting closer and closer to being ready to survive in the outside world. You have pinker, more opaque skin and you're looking more and more like a baby every day. Your movements and kicks have been getting stronger, too, and Daddy felt you move again the other day which is always super fun for us. On Tuesday you hadn't moved much, so I sat quietly in the car and talked to you for a while... that made you start kicking right away! Good Boy!!

I'm feeling really great and am actually quite enjoying this part of pregnancy. I still have some mild backaches and my hands and feet are getting a bit swollen, but other than that I can't really complain about anything. Oh, except for my belly button, which is starting to look really weird. I'm terrified that one day it's going to pop out like the timer on a butterball turkey and it's really going to freak/gross me out! I sure hope you end up with an innie...

I've been feeling a little bit stressed about all the things we need to accomplish before your arrival, but we're making slow but sure progress. Daddy and I will start childbirth preparation classes next month, I've picked out the furniture for your nursery, and Nana is coming up to help me paint it this weekend. The doctor said I need to start thinking about my birth plan, and I definitely have some opinions about how I want it to go, but we'll talk about that a little later.

For now just keep fattening up in there, my precious!

Love Always,

  1. Proud of you for paying attention to your movement and taking the time to sit, monitor, and make sure LJ wakes up from his peaceful slumber and participates in kicking your innards! :) MISS YOU!

  2. You are so darn adorable! :) So glad you're been feeling good lately- and I definitely cannot wait to see what your plans are for little mans nursery!!

  3. Wow, you look amazing! All belly :)

  4. I'm so glad you're enjoying this part of your pregnancy! I always love it when I hear pregnant women say that. :-) I LOVE your bump. :-)

  5. yay!! you are doing great mama! so excited to hear how baby school goes, I think it will help you both feel more at ease because you will know what to expect. if you ever want to sit and chat about birth plans or prep or anything, i'm always here! I would love that!

  6. Oh I love these letters! It kind of makes me miss being pregnant!! I'm just so excited for you :)
And you look awesome! Love your bump!

  7. I'm so glad that you are able to start enjoying your pregnancy. It's about time! I can't wait to see the nursery come together. It is all going by so fast!

  8. pregnancy is brilliant and weird at the same time. you have this incredible baby growing inside you but your body starts to feel strange with the swelling and skin discolouration due to hormones (for some - which goes away, btw so don't be alarmed LOL).

just wait till baby starts kicking! my daughter kicked me for weeks!

    Vodka and Soda

  9. I'm glad you're feeling good!! Let's hope the Hawks win again tomorrow!
I can't wait to see some nursery photos!

  10. Such a sweet idea to write these love letters! I am just one week ahead of you & expecting a boy as well!

  11. How sweet this is! I love this idea. Wish I had done that. My boy is 30, so maybe I should start writing now!
Congrats and best wishes for healthy boy and easy delivery!

Talk to me, Goose!
