All things considered though, the BIG MOVE went really super well this weekend and we're officially living in our new house in Snoqualmie! We had tons of friends and family members arrive on Saturday to help us transfer our lives to the suburbs, and even though it was a long, exhausting weekend it was super fun and exciting.
I was absolutely shocked that our belongings didn't all fit into the 14-foot truck we rented, but luckily Stew's dad had hauled up our new flat screen TV in his little trailer, so we used that to do the last couple loads of things from our storage unit.
We had so many amazing helpers that every time I turned around another huge project would be done. Mom and Patty unpacked and organized the ENTIRE kitchen, and Stew, Russ and Dad managed to get all three of the flat screen TVs mounted and working.
Some of the moving crew... we had so many awesome people help us! We feel so lucky and grateful and honestly could not have done it without them. |
Crystal was in town from Oregon and was a huge help. |
Me and Mom in the beautiful kitchen that she and Patty spent HOURS making perfect for me. |
Some of my favorite guys installing the downstairs TV... an important priority! |
The house is still full of boxes and miscellaneous items but we're starting to get settled in. We're finding it a little difficult to be excited and enjoy the house because we're overwhelmed by the amount of projects and organization that needs to happen, but I'm trying to force myself to relax. We both need to realize that it's going to take time to get settled in, and it's okay if everything isn't done right this second.
Our poor little condo is an empty, dusty hole, and I felt a little sad leaving the place where Stew and I have lived together for almost five years. But I sure won't miss living in Ballard. My first new commute to work this morning was lovely and stress-free, and I'm hoping my ride home will be the same.
Daylight savings killed us this weekend and we're both running on very little steam to start the week, but it's DONE... the BIG MOVE is OVER! And I think we're going to love Suburbia.
congratulations.
ReplyDeleteSo glad the move went so well and that you had lots of help! Any sunny skies of course!!
ReplyDeleteyay for a great move and for wonderful friends who will come and help you move in! i don't like moving either, really would love to rent movers for sure! cant wait to see photos when everything is up and all the boxes are broken down
ReplyDeleteOh, I am so, so excited for you! And glad you had all that help. Moving is the worse (says the girl who's living in her fourth place in six months).
ReplyDeleteAnd don't rush on getting everything done. Living there and figuring out exactly what works best will mean you don't set things up multiple times. :)
Also, DST was the worst!
Cant wait to see more pics!! Love those wood floors!! Hope the unpacking process goes smoothly!!
ReplyDeleteMoving has to be one of the most painful things to do, but good on you guys for getting it done! x
ReplyDeleteWahoo!! That's gotta feel good to have that done. And your new kitchen looks absolutely amazing!! Congrats again!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the big move! We just moved from our first townhouse together to our new house and it was so sad leaving the place we had lived in for 4.5 yrs but it's nice to have more space. We thankfully hired movers!
ReplyDeleteawww, you are so cute and so is your new house! congratulations!!!
ReplyDeletehooray!! congratulations sarah & stew! can't wait to come visit :)
ReplyDeleteThere is nothing that I hate more in life than moving... maybe perhaps vacuuming. Congrats that is done and you survived!
ReplyDeleteMoving is one of the worst things ever, but it is so worth it right!? Love the new house, its beautiful!! :)

Awesome (not the moving part - the being-all-moved-in part). Congrats you two!
ReplyDeleteYay!! Good for you guys! I love your dark wood floors!
ReplyDeleteHow exciting!!! Congrats on getting through it, now you can relax and enjoy your new space =)
ReplyDeleteCongrats, looks like such a great house! I love the that part of WA, my in-laws live up there. Enjoy moving in and getting to organize stuff and pretend that you are actually organized for 2 seconds before that perfectly organized drawer becomes the junk drawer (oh wait, that's me). Have fun decorating!
ReplyDeleteFound you through Henning Love :)
Wow! Good job getting it all INTO house. Unpacking is daunting - but it sounds like you've got a good plan with relaxing and trying to take it a bit slow.
ReplyDeletelove the pic of you two, so cute! just take time and make it all perfect. I have an impatience problem and I wanted everything done right away when we moved and it's still not done! ug!!! Glad your commute went well too!
ReplyDeleteIt's so PRETTTYYYY!! xo
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your big move! I'm thinking of moving in a few months and all of a sudden, I find all these bloggers who are also moving or have just moved. The blogging world knows what I need, apparently!
