We were really excited to kick start spring with an evening at the ball park in my company's extremely good seats, but what a disappointment. No wonder I don't follow baseball. What happened to the days of superstars like Ken Griffey Junior, Edgar Martinez, Randy Johnson, Jay Buhner... the "my oh my!" players of my childhood? America's pastime has always seemed like a dull sport to me anyway (way too much standing around for my taste), and last night's game just confirmed my previous opinions... The most exciting thing about a baseball game is the beer garden.
We stuck it out until the bottom of the fifth inning before calling it a night and heading home. It sure wasn't a perfect game like last time, but we still had a nice evening together and the seats were fantastic.
Are you a baseball fan?
And Dan Wilson, Alex Rodriguez, Tino Martinez... I remember that year in M's history. I was such a little M's nerd back then. Today, I'm more of a fair-weather fan, which I hate to admit, but I still love the tradition of the M's in Seattle! I'll probably only go to one or two games though.
ReplyDeleteWe went to see the braves this weekend and they won, of course! I love baseball, it's so "all American!" I'm sorry u don't live by a good team! Lol! Although we have to go to Atlanta bc alabama has no pro sports! They are all about college football, ha! It's pretty awesome u got to see that perfect game tho!
ReplyDeletewow those are your seats?? how close are you! bummer about the mariners getting beat by the astros. i love that you two attend a lot of sports games i love going to them
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! I don't think I've ever seen Safeco that empty! I miss those days of the M's superstars as well. I actually named one of my childhood pets Edgar Martinez! :)
ReplyDeleteI only got to a few games a year, but I always have a blast when I am there! Maybe once it gets a little warmer the crowds will get bigger
ReplyDeleteI haven't been to a baseball game in forever! But this makes me want to go (maybe when it gets a little bit warmer!).
ReplyDeleteWe don't live near any ball parks (*tear*) so you better believe that we plan our vacations around baseball, ha ha. My hubs is a huge red sox fan so when we were planning our California trip this summer, we planned it when the red sox will be there :)
