Hit and Run

I went down to our parking garage on Saturday evening to head to the grocery store, and I was greeted by this extremely annoying situation...

The woman who parks next to us in our garage completely side swiped my car!
I looked, in vain, for a note.

How do you do this much damage to someone's car and then obliviously
proceed upstairs to enjoy the rest of your evening?!

Here are the parked cars.

And here is the damage to her front end, which basically scraped
all along the passenger side of my car.

The unit numbers above our parking spots are clearly marked, so it was just a matter of knocking on her door and confronting her with the fact that she side swiped my vehicle. Her response? "No... I don't think so!"  Again, how in the heck do you obliviously hit someone's car?!  However, once she saw the damage, she did in fact admit that yes, it appeared she had inadvertently scraped my car while parking hers. (You think?!) So we got her insurance information and are in the process of filing a claim and getting this taken care of.

Frankly, I'm actually surprised it has taken so long for something like this to happen. Her car is practically brand new, yet almost every week I notice new dents, scrapes and scratches. You can see by the yellow paint on the front end (that's also now scraped down the side of my car) that she had already hit something like a taxi cab or a fire hydrant.

So obviously this is the last thing we have the time or energy to be dealing with right now... sigh.

Finish Selections and Upgrades

As part of the new construction process, Stew and I had only a few weeks to choose all of our upgrades and finish selections for our new home. And it's actually a lot of pressure to make choices that you're going to have to live with for the next 15+ years! But with a lot of time, research, help from Mom, and almost 8 hours worth of design appointments, we got everything locked in and ordered, which means they will be breaking ground and pouring the foundation in the next few weeks!

Here's a sneak peak of some of our finishes...

We also chose to purchase a lot of less visible upgrades like a security system, air conditioning, surround sound, an audio package, etc. It was a very stressful and time consuming process, but now that we're done we're very excited to just sit back, relax, and watch our house go up!

Seahawks Game 6

Seattle Seahawks vs. New England Patriots...
WIN: 24-23.

Well I have to say it once again: We picked an amazing year to buy season tickets! Our home game victories have been absolutely amazing to watch, and I don't even mind going to work on Monday with a scratchy throat and a voice hoarse from screaming. For a second there it looked like the Patriots were going to cream the Hawks, until a late fourth quarter comeback and a stunning 46-yard touchdown pass. Wilson actually threw for two touchdowns in the final eight minutes while the Seahawks defense kept New England from gaining a first down on either of its final two possessions.

I heard later on SportsCenter that this is only the third time the Patriots have played in Seattle since 1993, so I guess they just weren't prepared for CenturyLink Field and the 12th Man. This win followed a loss in St. Louis and a win in Carolina, leaving the Seahawks with a 4-2 record so far.

Andrew's very first tailgate experience!
He bought Tara surprise tickets to the game for her 30th birthday!

We'll have to see what happens in San Francisco this Thursday, but we have high hopes... Go Hawks!

¡Viva México!

Marina Fiesta Resort and Spa.
We're not really in a position where we should be going on any more tropical vacations this year, but this was just too good an opportunity to pass up.

Our friends Crystal and Laura go down to Cabo San Lucas every year around this time, and Crys has always tried to get me to come along. I thought this year the answer would definitely be no due to our honeymoon being just a few months ago. But then a killer Groupon for an all-inclusive package at a resort I stayed at with my family a few years ago happened to pop up in my inbox. In addition, we had a $99 companion ticket through Alaska Air that was going to expire by the end of the year. And, as icing on the cake, Stew happened to have four days off right in the middle of the planned dates. So all things considered, there really wasn't a reason not to head south for a few days of sunshine.

Of course we booked the trip before we realized we would be in the middle of buying a house, which added quite a bit of additional stress to going out of town for a week, but we made it work and the trip was awesome! Just what we needed...

First night with a bucket of beers to start our trip.

Super excited to be on vacation!

The Elbow Room claims to be the world's smallest bar...

...so of course we had to take a shot there!

Stewart became obsessed with beating our waitress at tic-tac-toe.
He couldn't win!

Cabo!

A photo collage illustration of Laura and Stew's love/hate relationship.

Always with the tongues out... classy.

I don't know why I was doing this...

I don't believe it... Crys dancing up on the bar?!

Gorgeous beach, just like I remembered it.

We spent our days at the Mango Bar drinking beer buckets and
participating in challenges to get more free beer buckets.

Stew and Rob had NO idea what they were getting themselves into with this one!

Booze Cruise Night!

Gorgeous boat ride out to Lover's Cove Beach.

We heard that this "Jungle Booze Cruise" can get a little bit rowdy.

That's why we chose it, obvs!

Pirate ship!

Lovely sunset.

It didn't take Stew long to take control of the situation.
And the tequila.

And on the way back things did get pretty rowdy!
It's actually kind of hard to dance on a boat.

We had the most amazing street tacos of our lives.
I think we ate here almost every single night.

Cheers! Our last day on the beach.

Loving my time in the sun with the girls.

I don't actually think this one was a contest... I think Stew was just dancing on stage.

Such a great trip with some of our very best and most awesome friends.
We were so happy to be invited!

Everything about the trip was amazing, but we definitely decided that next time we'll go for seven nights instead of four. The trip was just too short. But we really liked the all-inclusive deal we purchased at Marina Fiesta, and if you had a whole group staying there it would be an even more amazing deal. The location in the marina is the perfect distance right between the beach and downtown, and with all you can eat and drink it really saves a lot of money. They even filled our mini fridge with beers every day that we brought with us to the beach.

Unfortunately now it's back to the real world for us. And of course it was already pouring down rain by the time we returned home. Someone remind me why I love Seattle again?

Trunk Show

After having such a great time at another Stella & Dot Trunk Show earlier this summer, Alissa and I decided to host our own.

We gathered a bunch of our best gals at Alissa's place last night for an evening of wine, appetizers, laughter, friends, and JEWELS. The event was a huge success and I've added quite a few things to my ever-growing Stella & Dot wish list.

If you missed out don't worry, you can still place an order by clicking here.

Stew and I are off to Cabo San Lucas on Sunday to spend the week with some good friends, basking in the sun and drinking our cares away. It will be a much-needed break from the stress of simultaneously buying and selling a home, and we can't wait to hit the beach. See you all soon!
