New York Pizza & Bar

Before Jessica and I saw Owen Meany's Christmas Pageant on Friday night, we wanted to grab dinner someplace in Queen Anne, and at the suggestion of a co-worker went to New York Pizza & Bar. It turned out to be a great choice!

The restaurant is located below the QFC on Mercer Street and we had a reservation for 5:30pm but didn't seem to need it; things seemed fairly dead when we arrived and we were seated right away - great since we were starved. Happy hour is from 2pm to 6pm and 9pm to close, plus all day on Sundays, with a pretty extensive menu. We got drinks, an appetizer, two pizzas and dessert all for just $24 each which included a generous tip for our very friendly and attentive waiter.

The atmosphere was fun with a variety of music playing - everything from Pink to old school '90s classics. This would be a really great place to come with a group, we thought. Also, for no charge or obligation you can join the VIP Club, which means next time you can get 50% off an appetizer plus a free 10" pizza. Then I guess you also get bonus points and reward certificates. I'm not sure I'll frequent this place often enough to take advantage of those benefits, but I sure will stop on by for my free pizza, and I would definitely recommend this place to others.

Cherry Popper Martinis - these were delicious, absolutely my new favorite drink.

Spinach Artichoke Dip - one of the best I've had with a unique tangy flavor.

10" Brooklyn Pizza and Manhattan Pizzas.
Our eyes were bigger than our stomachs and we ended up taking
about half of this home. It was delicious for breakfast.

Ice Cream Sundae. Not on the happy hour menu but totally worth it.
One was more than enough for us to share.

New York Pizza & Bar had a fantastic happy hour and great service, and the regular menu was also quite extensive. They have an entire section of gluten free options, and there is a huge variety including items like salads, nachos, pizza, pasta, burgers, tacos, wraps, and rustic baguette sandwiches. The drink menu has tons of fun yummy-sounding shaker martinis, as well as house cocktails, classic martinis, and beer. So really something for everyone... check it out!

  3. I had no idea there were more of these restaurants (there is one in Bellingham and one in Lynden). They have a great happy hour (and pizza).

Next time I'll have to try the dessert - that one looks yummy.
